Miss Andrea kindly organized our annual Retreat, a time of prayer and peace. The UIV Retreat took place on Wednesday 16th June, at St. Dominic’s Priory, Sway. It is the home of a community of Dominican Nuns. We were put into three groups under the leadership of Sisters Maria, Jacinthe and Veronica. The theme of the day was Sacrifice. With Sr. Maria, we re-enacted the story of Adam and Eve in Genesis, looking at Original Sin. We then went to chapel, a beautiful converted barn, and had Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, under the guidance of Sister Jacinthe. Mass took place at midday, followed by a picnic lunch in their garden. It was a perfect spot for eating strawberries in the sunshine. After lunch, the third group with Sister Veronica, experienced a Passover Supper, tasting the bread and herbs which would have been used. Before we left, the Sisters were presented with a chocolate cake from St. Mary’s School. We returned home renewed and peaceful after our day’s Retreat in Sway.
