On Tuesday 23 February we went on an Art Trip to London, visiting the Tate Britain and the Royal Academy of Arts. The Tate Britain was really interesting and had some amazing works. We had to draw two of them after we had looked around the gallery. I chose a marble sculpture of a mother teaching her child by Alfred Gilbert, and a painting called ‘lie de France’ which we found really modern and we loved it. There was a contemporary section in the gallery which was great, but the older works were also impressive.
We next went to the Royal Academy to see the Vincent Van Gogh exhibition which was incredible. It was lovely to see Van Gogh’s works and how he interpreted Life. His letters were amazing and the audio guides really helped to explain the images and letters we saw at the gallery. When we were there we had to produce a sketch of a painting and write about it in preparation for a presentation we are going to do in class. I loved going to London, it was really fun, and interesting to see the galleries.
