On Friday 11th June the Maths department took all Upper 3 girls to the Techniquest Science Centre in Cardiff. Although primarily a science centre, every June Techniquest also includes activities for mathematicians called MATHAMAGIC, which is a unique experience in mathematics. It contains a large number of activities that explore the curriculum areas of number, shape, space and measurement. A complementary presentation in the Science Theatre provides an extra mathematical experience.
All the girls had a great day out as their following comments indicate:
- The interactive activities had something for everybody
- I enjoyed the trip because it was really interesting and I learnt loads.
- The games and puzzles as it was fun trying to solve them
- The talk as it was very funny and helpful
- Most of all I loved exploring the building, looking at all the unique inventions.
- The show mathematic had a lot of logic games.
- Watching Mr Rowden and Mr Sankey untie each other!
- Seeing Mr Sankey doing his dance on the floor mat (Where are the photos?)
- The foot key board because I could play my favourite tune with my feet.
- I really enjoyed the water because there was a massive ball which spun round and I got really wet.
- It was a very fun trip to finish the exams
