UIII Retreat in York 2011

The UIII completed another successful retreat in York just before half term. They followed in the footsteps of Mary Ward and visited the significant sites of her life, her birthplace at Mulwith, Harewell, the site of her First Holy Communion, Newby and Givendale.

We started our retreat at the Bar Convent and concluded at the beautiful ChapelĀ  of Mount Grace for Mass, after a barefoot walk up a steep and stony path.

Sunday was an exploration of medieval York: Jorvik, The Castle Museum and Barley Hall culminating in the Ghost Walk at night: a mixture of terror and gales of laughter from the UIII.

Highlights as voted by the girls: Mount Grace, the riverside trek to remote Harewell, Castle Museum, Jorvik and definitely the X Factor talent contest judged by Tim, our driver and Miss Andre!
