Theatre Alibi's adaptation of Michael Frayn's novel 'Spies'.

SpiesOn Friday 25th April, after school, we went to The Exeter Northcott Theatre to see Theatre Alibi's adaptation of Michael Frayn's novel 'Spies'.

"...a bittersweet evocation of childhood with gripping mystery at its heart. Similar in theme to Ian Mc Ewan's Atonement and L.P Hartley's The Go Between, the production combines imaginative ensemble performance with a stunning live score for cello and accordion."

The show was superb: brilliantly performed with some astonishing multi-role acting skills and atmospheric attention to detail which still left room for the imagination to join the performers in creating the meanings of each scene.

The Drama Department saw this company's work last year in a production called 'Caught'. We were really impressed with the quality and imaginative approach of Theatre Alibi's production and performance style as well as their their outstanding educational support materials which show that Alibi fully understand Drama students' exam needs as well as creating the best theatre I have seen in recent years.
