Anglican Confirmation

On 19th April, twenty-three girls from St Mary’s were confirmed at Salisbury Cathedral by Bishop David.  The ceremony was very moving, illustrating the journey through the Christian Life.  It began at the West Doors with the sponosors presenting the candidates to Bishop David and the reiteration of their baptismal vows.  They then processed to the crossing, where one person was baptised and the congregation liberally sprinkled with Holy Water as a reminder of their own vows.  Finally, at the entrance to the chancel, the girls were confirmed by the laying on of hands and marking with chrism.  A watershed in their lives and a truly memorable occasion.
