Our students put their creative talents to the test at a charity clothes show and raised £2000 for maternity equipment in Sri Lanka.

The theme for this year’s extravaganza was recycling and 120 girls took part, many making their outfits.  The show was organised by textiles teacher Mrs Jane Hobbs and Mrs Sally Awdry.  Mrs Hobbs said:  “It was a huge success.  Our talented girls worked incredibly hard.  Everyone had a wonderful time.”

It was “Here comes the bride” for Upper IV (13+) pupils who designed and made wedding dresses with inspiration from fashion icon Audrey Hepburn and Celebration sweets.

The Lower Sixth (16+) produced a Black and White Collection marking 60’s fashion guru Mary Quant’s unique style.  Upper III (11+) got to grips with a load of rubbish and made outfits out of plain black refuse bags with the Lower IV pupils (12+) showing off pyjamas made in textile lessons.  Upper IV (13+) also showed scarves and bags they had made.

Holly in UIV (13+) designed and made an entire collection inspired by fairies with appliquéd, dyed and embroidered scarves made by Lower IV (12+).  Ali’s Collection featured clothes made by LVI student Ali, the Upper Sixth wearing their creations inspired by Marie Antoinette.

Models also showed clothes from Waltons Clothing in Shaftesbury, the Catherine Roger’s collection, from SSCWID together with Tatty Graham’s vibrant Indian designs.

Thanks to the GCSE LV Photography Students who took the photographs as part of their Coursework
