On Sunday 2nd March Lower V set out for Lulworth, equipped with rucksack, walking boots and a packed lunch.  They were participating in their first practice expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.  In groups of 5 to 7, with route cards, maps and compasses at the ready, they started the long climb to Dungy Head.  After a quick breather at the top, they descended to Durdle Door, where they practised taking bearings of the local landmarks.  An even steeper climb to the top of Swyre Head followed, where the grip of their trekking boots proved invaluable.  After a short rest to admire the view, the teams struck inland across fields.  A bull in a field necessitated a deviation from the chosen route, but soon the girls were back on track, completing their trek within the time limit.
