The School Rock Band is created at the end of the Lower 6th year, when auditions are held over two or three weeks and everyone is welcome to experience singing with a real (and very loud) backing band, led by David Cohen and Pete Krayer on Guitars, Chris Sykes on Bass and James Gilbert on Drums, all of whom have a lot of musical experience in the world of rock and pop and are keen to encourage the highest possible standards of performance and creativity from the girls.
From the auditions, the final band usually comprises 4 lead singers, saxophone, keyboards and drums and each Thursday evening the main hall is lifted by the pulsating sounds of the band rehearsing for the various gigs that present themselves during the year. Recently these have been The Chrismas Party, the Fashion Show, an 'Unplugged' evening in Campion Hall and the open-air Summer Rock Concert held in the grounds of the School (see photo).
