The weekend began with a real swing on Friday and our annual St Cecilia’s concert where we entertain each other in school. This year was a wonderful experience, with several girls singing on their own for the first time, guitar solos, flute duets, some Speech and Drama and a real feast of entertainment for us all followed by nibbles and hot chocolate in the Refectory afterwards.
Sunday afternoon was very industrious as girls were shown how to make complicated Christmas cards with hot guns and glue guns and glitter and everything you can imagine on a card for Christmas! Others made delectable cakes in the Junior Resource room with housemistresses. Some of our girls braved the cold to play in county hockey training afternoons and tournaments in Sherborne and Bristol.
In the evening, most of the school watched the latest film to be released on DVD “Hairspray” whilst the Upper VI had a real treat as Mr Raffray brought in about 30 wines for them and the residential staff to taste. Upper VI girls continued the evening with a table football challenge match with Mr James and his son. I am not sure who won – the story varies! Finally, Ruth had brought back her first CD “Smurfs go Pop!” and the Upper VI relived their early childhood with some dancing in the common room.St Mary's School, Shaftesbury, Dorset, SP7 9LP Tel: +44 (0)1747 854005 Fax: +44 (0)1747 851557
