St Mary’s musicians triumph for a fourth consecutive year.

The Music Department’s display cabinet has been replenished for another year with success in the Mid-Somerset Festival. This year 10 girls took part in woodwind and piano classes. Abi, Georgia, Sophie, Olivia, Emily, Jasmine, Clare, Anna, Rosie and Tamara were all awarded either commendations or distinctions for their performances.

The standard of playing was very high in all classes. Georgia and Sophie won their Woodwind Duet Advanced class and Sophie retained the Gregory Cup for a second year for the Recorder Repertoire class. There were also class wins for festival newcomers Tamara for the Recorder Serious Soloists class and also for Olivia, Rosie and Anna for the Piano ‘Six Hands’ class; the latter trio winning in a class of eight entries all of which were awarded distinction representing a real achievement. Well done to all who took part this year.
