Across the board GCSE success

ImageSt Mary’s is top of the class after girls scooped superb GCSE results across a wide range of subjects.

Headmistress Mrs Margaret McSwiggan says:

 'Effort, academic flair and dedication have really paid off – these results are fantastic.  The high grades have been obtained in every discipline and the results are testimony to the benefits of single sex education.'

Nearly 29% of grades were A* with 62% grades being A*-A, nearly 89% being A*-B and over 98% being grades A-C.{kl_php}echo '<br class="clear" />';{/kl_php}
The following shows the percentage of A* and A grades in various subjects:
  • Music – 100%
  • Photography – 100%
  • Religious Studies – 91%
  • Art & Design – 89%
  • Chemistry – 84%
  • English Language – 77%
  • Biology – 76%
  • German – 75%
  • Physics – 68%

This is the second week of celebrations – last week the A level pass rate was 100% with 78% of grades being A and B which is three times the national average.

The school’s next Open Day takes place on Saturday 7th October and gives families the opportunity to see how these results were obtained.
