The New Team

The new school year has started with great enthusiasm and optimism and, with the new term, our new house captains have managed to get into full flow running the house so well. We have a great team of Lower VI who keep us informed of upcoming events, things to look out for, people’s birthdays and the latest in the news. A lot goes on behind the scenes, doing duty lists and organising the house, so that our lives run much more smoothly and we can enjoy boarding life to the full.

Latest Events

We have just had the guest debate and, not only did Harewellians make a great input to the floor speeches etc, but also one of the parents was a guest in the debate; this made it even more enjoyable and it was superb debating from both sides. However we must again thank Mrs Norton for the time and passion she puts in; we are lucky to have her on our team of wonderful staff, and we look forward to future debates.

Another event that has recently taken place was the inter house drama competition and despite people’s modesty we were very well represented by two of our girls from Upper IV and Upper V. They did a fantastic job and were an entertainment for the whole school. Although inter-house competitions are always in very good spirits, the competition was fierce and the standard of every house, including Harewell, was very high. Although we didn’t win it was a superb evening and all the plays were brilliant and much enjoyed by all. This was the first year we’ve done inter house drama and we look forward to next year with huge enthusiasm.

Christmas is coming…

As we near the end of our 1st term Christmas is soon approaching and at this point in the term a date on all our calendars is Harewell’s annual Christmas party. This takes place on the last weekend of term and consists of dressing outrageously, usually to a theme although some do get carried away, playing lots of games, including forfeits, and of course eating more than you normally do in a week. Every one puts huge amounts of effort into its success and it is definitely a highlight of the term and the staff are always great participants!
